Responsibilities:
The OPS Park Ranger position will work outdoors with the team in the historical gardens.
The position will require the selected candidate to assist with landscaping, grounds keeping and light maintenance projects (such as painting, pressure washing, minor carpentry repairs,etc.
) MAINTENANCE -Maintains park structures, facilities, equipment and grounds through routine, preventive, and corrective maintenance practices.
Cleans public restrooms, bathhouses and public spaces.
Maintains cleanliness of grounds and facilities.
VISITOR SERVICES- Cover shifts in the ranger station and collect day use fees using a point of sale system, including processing cash and credit card payments.
Explain services provided for public use, enjoyment and education; answer questions, provide information and directions.
Attempt to resolve visitor complaints while maintaining good public relations.
ADMINISTRATION - Complete daily forms and prepare reports in a timely manner including , timesheets, vehicle logs, maintenance logs and other park related reports.
Communicate via email and operate park radios and telephones.
PROTECTION - Ensures park rules are enforced pertaining to all natural, historical and archaeological facilities and resources and use thereof for enjoyment of the visitor.
Performs related work as required.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of - basic arithmetic, good customer service Skill in- performing cleaning, basic facilities maintenance and repairs and groundskeeping duties; operation of zero turn mowers, weed eaters and landscaping equipment.
ability to use a computer, including software programs such as Microsoft Office Suite; operation of Point of Sale system; cash handling.
communicating effectively verbally and in writing.
Ability to- follow verbal and written instructions; work independently with little supervision; establish and maintain effective working relationships with others; investigate and identify problems; prepare reports; perform physical labor; speak in public; handle visitor inquiries in a tactful, efficient and courteous manner; work outdoors in inclement weather and high temperatures; lift up to 50 pounds without assistance; understand, apply, and enforce rules, directives, policies, laws and regulations; work rotating shifts including nights, holidays and weekends; maintain a valid Class E driver's license.
Minimum
Qualifications:
Valid Driver's License Flexible schedule.
This selected candidate will work rotating schedule, 40 hours per week, selected candidate will work 7 days straight (Mon-Sun) then take 2 days off (Mon-Tues).
Then work 3 days straight (Wed-Fri)then take 2 days off (Sat-Sun).
This allows for every other weekend off.
The shift hours fluctuate with the park closing time at sundown.
